Jane Yoo

JANE YOO is an award-winning harpist recognized for her versatility as an orchestral musician, soloist, and chamber artist. Based in Baltimore, MD, USA, she has performed throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, appearing with orchestras and at major festivals while maintaining an active career across orchestral, solo, and chamber music.

As an orchestral harpist, Jane has appeared as guest harpist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony.

Alongside her orchestral career, Jane maintains an active presence as a soloist and chamber musician. She has appeared as concerto soloist with the Yale Philharmonia under Peter Oundjian, the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, the Seoul National University String Chamber Orchestra, and the Muzen Philharmonic Orchestra. As a Kumho Young Artist, she has presented solo recitals at Kumho Art Hall in Seoul in both 2014 and 2017 and was selected as a featured performer in the Focus on Youth concert at the World Harp Congress in Hong Kong. In 2024, she was featured as a Young Artist in Residence on Performance Today, the nationally syndicated radio program produced by Minnesota Public Radio.

Jane is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions. Her honors include Eighth Prize at the USA International Harp Competition, one of the world's most prestigious harp competitions, Honorable Mention at the Lyon & Healy Awards, the House of Glass Special Prize at the Szeged International Harp Competition in Hungary, First Prize at the Korea International Harp Competition, First Prize at the Korea Chamber Orchestra National Competition, and additional top prizes at national competitions throughout South Korea.

Jane has been a fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2025 and 2026, where she has collaborated with distinguished artists and faculty in orchestral, chamber, and contemporary music performances. An advocate for new music, Jane regularly collaborates with contemporary composers and will give the world premiere of Donald Crockett’s Concerto for Flute, Viola, and Harp at the 2026 Aspen Music Festival.

Jane is currently pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University under the guidance of June Han. She also holds an Artist Diploma (AD) from the Peabody Institute, becoming the first harpist ever admitted to its AD program, a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Seoul National University.
